Quotation generator

A quotation tells a customer exactly what they will get and what it will cost, before any work starts. Fill it in on the left and the page updates as you type.

What goes on a quotation

  • Your business name and contact details
  • The customer the quote is for
  • A quote number and date
  • A valid-until date
  • Each item with quantity, rate and tax
  • The total price
  • Terms: what is included, delivery time, how to accept

Quotation or invoice?

A quotation is an offer at a fixed price. It is sent before the sale and does not ask for payment. An invoice is sent after the sale and does.

When the customer accepts, use “Make an invoice” in the editor. The customer and items are copied across, so the invoice matches the quote.

Questions

How long should a quote stay valid?
That is your decision. Many businesses use 15 or 30 days, shorter when material prices move fast. Put the date in the “Valid until” field so it is printed on the quote.
What is the difference between a quote and an estimate?
A quote is a fixed price the customer can accept. An estimate is an approximate cost that may change once the work is clearer.
What does it cost?
Creating, designing and saving documents is free and needs no account. The clean PDF, without the preview watermark, will be a paid download. Payment is not switched on yet, so that download is not available today.
