1. Introduction

Welcome to OwnInvoice. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our invoicing service.

2. Data We Collect

Browser and cloud storage: OwnInvoice keeps working data in your browser and, when you sign in, syncs account data such as seller profiles and invoices to our secure cloud service so it is available across devices. We also store usage records to enforce plan limits. Seller GSTINs and mobile numbers do not establish exclusive ownership of a business identity.

Account Information: If you register for an account, we collect your email address and basic profile information.

Newsletter: When you request newsletter updates, we store your email address, request and confirmation dates, subscription status and secure confirmation identifiers on our server. We send updates only after you confirm your email. Hostinger processes email delivery. Each newsletter includes an unsubscribe link; purchase receipts and account messages are separate. We keep subscription status to honour unsubscribe requests and use short-lived hashed request identifiers to limit signup abuse.

Payment Information: We do not store your credit card details. All payment processing is handled securely by our third-party payment gateway (Cashfree Payments).

Payment troubleshooting: For plan purchases, we record your account email, checkout IP address, order reference, plan, amount, time and payment outcome or failure reason. These private records are available only to authorised website administrators to resolve payment problems. The dashboard shows recent records from the last 90 days, limited to 5,000 events. It distinguishes a confirmed payment failure from a cancelled checkout or a payment awaiting confirmation.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to provide, maintain, and improve the OwnInvoice application and, with your marketing-cookie permission, measure our advertising. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser storage to keep you signed in and remember your drafts and settings. Account authentication is stored for the browser session, and saved account data is encrypted in local storage. The standalone Invoice Studio stores its drafts in this browser. These storage features are needed for the service to function.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, you may be signed out and drafts kept only in this browser may be lost.

Website analytics: We use Microsoft Clarity on public marketing pages to understand clicks, scrolling and page usage through heatmaps and session recordings. Clarity may use cookies and collect device and interaction information. We exclude invoice editors, account, authentication and payment pages from this tracking. 5. Advertising

Facebook and Instagram ad measurement: If you allow marketing cookies, we use the Meta Pixel on public marketing pages to send page-view events, the visited public URL, browser/device information and advertising cookie identifiers to Meta. This helps measure our ads and may help Meta personalise advertising. The Pixel is excluded from invoice editors, account, authentication and payment pages. Automatic customer matching and automatic form/event collection are disabled. We do not send invoice contents, customer details or account information through the Pixel. On public pricing and business-invoicing pages, we also send a PlanSelected event when a consenting visitor chooses a plan. It contains only the plan name; selecting a plan is not reported as a purchase. Signup forms and account activity are not sent through this event.

With marketing-cookie consent, we send CompleteRegistration after a new account is confirmed and opened successfully, and InitiateCheckout after a real subscription checkout order is created. These events run in an isolated measurement page and use opaque event identifiers. Checkout includes the amount, INR currency and plan name. We exclude existing accounts from new-registration measurement, and exclude owner, explicit test accounts and simulated checkout. We do not send signup form values, private account URLs, email, raw user IDs or order references to Meta.

After a confirmed subscription payment, and only with marketing-cookie consent, we send a Purchase event containing the charged amount, currency, plan name and an opaque payment event identifier. This runs in an isolated measurement page so Meta does not receive the private receipt URL, raw order ID, invoice contents, email or customer details. Failed and simulated payments are excluded; repeated receipt visits are deduplicated.

You can allow or decline Meta marketing cookies using our cookie banner, and change or withdraw that choice through the Cookie preferences button on public pages. Declining keeps the Meta Pixel off and removes its first-party advertising cookies from this browser. This choice applies to Meta ad measurement; Google advertising and Microsoft analytics are described separately below and above.

Our public pages, such as the blog and free tools, may show advertisements served by Google AdSense. We do not show ads inside your account area or on your invoices.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info. Your invoice contents, customer details and account data are never shared with advertisers.

6. Data Security

We have implemented appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used, or accessed without authorisation.

7. Your Choices

You can view, edit, export or delete the invoices and profiles in your account at any time. To delete your account and the data stored with it, contact us using the details below.
