Receipt or invoice?
An invoice asks for payment. A receipt confirms that payment arrived. A customer who paid in cash, or who needs proof for their own records, will ask for a receipt.
If the invoice was made here, open it and use “Make a receipt”. The invoice number is filled in as the reference.
Questions
- What should I write for the payment method?
- A new receipt starts with a “Payment method” field. Write how the money arrived, and a transaction reference if you have one.
- Can I make a receipt for a part payment?
- Yes. Change the items or the rate so the total paid matches what you actually received, and say in the notes that it is a part payment.
- What does it cost?
- Creating, designing and saving documents is free and needs no account. The clean PDF, without the preview watermark, will be a paid download. Payment is not switched on yet, so that download is not available today.
